Waiting room reminiscing
Monday, September 20, 2010 at 8:41PM I took Liam for a check-up at the pediatrician's today. Whenever we go, there is invariably a couple waiting with their newborn for their first visit and, well, it always just takes me back.
Remember those early visits? The ones where you sit in the waiting room surreptiously checking out the older babies (even the six month ones) in amazement because it seems so impossibly far off? And the moms with the older kids seem so confident... casual even?
I'm now that mom with the impossibly huge looking toddler. He sat on my lap and ate lunch. He said hi to some older kids who just stared back. He jumped off my lap and ran around the corridors. He flirted with the nurses. He threatened a minor meltdown and I read him a book.
It happens. You'll get there, faster than you know. And it's so much fun and so worth it!
I love this age, and five years old, ten, fifteen... it doesn't seem so impossibly far off anymore.
