Father's Day

(This photo was actually taken by my father-in-law on mother's day! Keith had to leave on a business trip this morning so we didn't get a chance for a family photo today.)
One of the things I love about our neighborhood is how, when you go to the playground, you see all types of caregivers - moms, dads, grandparents, nannies, babysitters - whether it's a week day or a weekend.
This Father's Day, I want to acknowledge the part and full time stay at home dads - they are still in the minority and I know that brings challenges.
I also want to acknowledge the dads who work full time, sometimes for long hours and/or travel that means they barely see their kids for days on end. I know how hard that is, and I also admire how many of these dads I know, actually, all of them, who, in the limited time they do have with their kids, forge amazingly strong and bonded relationships with them anyway.
Happy Father's Day to fathers past, present and future, and to all those who father in any way. To those who are celebrating their first Father's Day with babe in arms, congratulations!
Special thoughts to those who are struggling or have struggled to become a father, and to those who have lost a child or a father. I am thinking of you too.
And of course a special Happy Father's Day to my own father, now a much-loved grandfather, and to my husband, amazing and totally adored father to Liam.
