Romance, friendship and connection - Lower East Side engagement photo session preview

A couple of weeks ago, I had the honor of photographing friend and fellow photographer Katie Jane Parker and her fiance John for their engagement session. Just as I love it when a little romance finds its way into a family session, I like to think of engagement sessions as the very first familiy session - and of course, it's all about romance.
But it's not just about romance, it's also about friendship and connection. I've been thinking a lot about connection since the Mommybites Summit and specifically about the ways in which photography creates and strengthens connections. Imagine how happy I was to read in Katie's blog about their experience in front of the camera - for them, the session itself was an incredible bonding experience, which is what I aspire to have every client to feel. That's a far cry from the painful, grimace-through-tears mass market in-store studio experience that often comes to mind when you bring up portrait photography, isn't it?!
I love the way the romance, friendship and connection in Katie and John's relationship shines through - and so glad I got the chance to capture it. Congratulations Katie and John and thank you for a great session!
